Picking pumpkins

A few weeks ago I went to my sisters house and she told me that she and her son had gone pumpkin picking the day before. I asked her where she went and she gave me directions, I am not very good with directions...that should have told you everything. As you can figure out I got lost. I was riding in Corinth and driving up and down the wrong roads. I took a right turn just as my sister said and she said it was only 5 seconds away from that turn. Well I drove for 15 minutes and never saw any pumpkins in sight. I went through an intersection and right in front of me there were PUMPKINS! I was so excited. Needless to say I am never going to turst my sister with directions and I will ask someone else before I go with her word.

Classification Essay

Walking into the store and seeing everything in their perfect place I think, "Wow, this is awesome and the smell is wonderful I could stay here all day and smell these things." You are probably thinking it is something rare that we don't see very often or something that is really fascinating. Well in reality it is only a shoe store, I love to look at all of the new shoes well really, it is the smell that I love the most. I am the rare kind of person that you are going to come by once in your life, I love the smell of new sneakers. I have always had a problem when I have to pick out a new pair of shoes because I want to stay in the store and smell them all day. When having to pick out a new pair of sneakers I have to think to myself if I want sneakers, shoes or sandals. Sometimes I don't care about any of this and I will ask an associate to pick out my shoes that they think best fits me.

I know you are probably thinking about what the differences are between all three types of shoes. Well sneakers, they are laced up can be velcro if you are that lazy. Sneakers are mans best friend when you become old, the only reason why I say this is because old people need the best balance a shoe can give. Sneakers are best for you when you are going to be on your feet for a long period of time. I always wear my sneakers when I am going to work, I work at a retail store and I have to be on my feet for numerous hours at a time. The type of store that I am currently employed at isn't the best store you have ever been to, no organization nothing. What can I say, I work at Marden's Surplus and Salvage, some people think it is the best store ever. I hate it due to the fact that I live there. My work shifts vary from day to day, the normal night shift is usually five hours and all of the other days it is eight hours per shift.

Shoes can be anything as long as they aren’t sneakers or sandals. They are what professionals wear to work. You know what I am talking about you know the penny loafers or when pretty women wear the high healed pointy toe shoes. They can be very casual to the extreme opposite. When ever you see a business man all dressed up in a suit more than likely he is going to be wearing shoes, unless he doesn’t care and wants to be comfortable and is wearing sneakers. Shoes are the most professional looking type of footwear that you can purchase. When I attend a special event (i.e. a wedding, funeral or a graduation) I must wear my shoes, they are what usually makes my outfit perfect. As a matter of fact I wear shoes majority of the time. If I wear a nice pair of pants or a skirt and I wear my sneakers with it, it just doesn't look right.

Sandals, boy do I love sandals! They are the best things ever created; well that is when it comes to foot wear. The best time to wear these suckers is right when the weather is getting good, you don’t usually wear them when there is snow on the ground but right after that you can slip them on. When you wear them you can show people who you are, because this shows your character, you can paint your toes, wear toe rings and if you really want to get fancy you could even wear an ANKLET! I do most of that excluding the whole anklet part because it isn't me. I wear a toe ring all year round, so when I take my footwear off at the end of any day I see my beautiful toe ring. I wear my sandals all summer long, even if they aren't the most appropriate kind that goes along with the outfit I am wearing. Sandals come in so many different styles, they can be strappy, slip on or something that resembles a flip flop, there are so many different styles of sandals you can buy. Even though they don’t have much material to them they seem to be the most expensive footwear, I have yet to figure out why this is true.

Out of all three types of footwear that I have described you should now be able to pick the one you prefer the most. Personally I prefer the sandals, I love to show off my feet even though they may not be the most attractive things in the world but hey we all have to take off our shoes and socks sometime. I still think that the best smelling type of footwear that you can possibly buy would have to be the sneaker.

Classification intro #2

The shoe store, what an amazing world. While standing in the middle of the shoe store I get this vision that I have never had before, all I see are the shoes, nothing else. The smell of these wonderful objects just overcomes my senses. As I walk into the isles and see all of the different types of shoes. All of the new shoes surrounding me, I feel like I am on cloud nine. What a wonderful feeling. There are three types of shoes that we all look at in some point in our life this is sneakers, shoes and sandals. I love shoes and I like to think they love me. When walking into a shoe store everyone knows that there is no way you are going to interrupt me before I get my business done.

Reation to Classification paragraphs

While reading through the classification essays I thought to myself, "I have to write one of these? This is going to stink, well the only part that I won't like is trying to get a good topic to write about". But on the other hand reading others work made me laugh a little, they were funny reading about a snake and learning more about men and how they watch sports all the time. I think this is going to be all that bad once it is started.

Why I am writing

Basically I would like to expand on the what I know portion of my paper. All of my questions come from there. How many people would I be able to guide at once. If I were with another guide, would the number double? I am writing this paper because since I have spent so much time in the outdoors and I enjoy it maybe I would be a good canidate to become a guide. I know very little about becoming a guide. This may be something that I would really enjoy to do and it could change my life and how I look at life in so many ways. This could possibly be a career change for me. I would never know if I never had to write this paper.
I am interested in Maine guides because of everything I learned in my high school career, in that one class O.E. I know the basics of Maine guides but I want to see what is underneath all of the common sense stuff. Would this be something that would take up most of my time or would I be able to have a part time job on top of it. There are several safety precautions that I have to follow and I haven't the slighest idea of what they are.
I have several questions about this topic and this paper is one way for me to get a grade and for me to boraden my horizon a little more.

What I know

After spending a good amount of time in the woods and learning everything I know about the woods, I have never really learned much about Maine guides.
I know that to become a maine guide you have to spend a lot of time and training and you have to meet certain standards to pass several tests. After you pass your tests you can get your license. Maine guides spend most of their time in the woods and some only spend a small amount of time there. I am not sure why. You have to know the ins-and-outs of the terrain that you will be covering. There are quite a few of regulations that you must follow. And when with a large group, you have to be able to take care of all of them in case something goes wrong, this would be considered your survival skills. There is a certain amount of people that you can guide at one time, due to the fact that if you guide more people you may not be able to keep everyone out of danger. The survival skills are not the average skills most people would know about.

History of my I search

This idea started way back for me, I can remember when I was 7 or 8 years old and when my parents would take me camping, hiking, canoeing and anything else you can imagine. We would take off on a Friday night and we wouldn't come home until Sunday evening. When ever we went on a new adventure we always had the better time compared to the last time. My sister and I would go out hunting on the lawn of our campsite to find the oddest looking and prettiest flower. She always beat me at that, because she was older and she knew what would be prettier. Even if it rained the whole weekend we would still have a good time and be able to find new things to do that we have never done in the outdoors. This continued all the way up to my high school career.
While in high school the only thing I really enjoyed doing was going to my fourth period class. The class was like a gym class, but you didn't have to change your clothes every hour, and you never really had to bring deoderant with you because you were afraid of how bad you would smell for the rest of the day. The name of this class was outdoor education. It is what it sounds like, it is education of the outdoors. The outdoors, something I love. I am sure you are asking yourself, what do you learn about? and why did I like it so much?
I liked the class so much because everyone had a good time and the way it was taught. We never had to sit in a row in front of the teacher with a chalk board behind him and have to raise your hand when you had a question to be answered. We could sit on top of our desks, in a circle and we could speak whenever we wanted, and it didn't have to be something sophisticated. We always had a good time in that class. We learned so much too, we learned how to treat a person with an injury, paddle in white water, ski and how to trust other people that you barely even know. We did things that you wouldn't think high schools would allow teachers to do with students without an insurance policy.
As you can see I have spent a good portion of my life in the outdoors. I have seen almost every aspect of guides, I have gone camping in all four seasons, rafted, canoed and hiked. I am sure there are a few more things that I have done in my life in the outdoors but they aren't sticking out in my mind right now.
